There is a place, near where I live, which has sunsets that are as beautiful as they are frequent. Those that burn through the sky in summer are always the loveliest, the most striking and breath-taking.
Its out on a point, marked by steep dunes and WWII shelters, surrounded by reefs built on limestone and some of the best diving I’ve seen. I’ve swum the Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays, and I was underwhelmed in comparison. Its like a lovely little secret, known only to a few.
This night we didn’t swim, although we’ve spent more time here than any other beach so far this summer and the water did look so warm and welcoming, because the sky was putting on a show. I spoke to a gentleman who was trailing his wife and her camera. They drove an hour to be here, he says, because they had heard how stunning the sunsets are down here. They weren’t disappointed.
